Federal Way Municipal Court has a contract with the State of Washington Department of Corrections (DOC) King County WORKCREW. Labor and Industries insurance is not paid by the court, and all safety equipment is provided by DOC.
Crew members clean up litter and illegal dumping sites through contracts with Seattle Public Utilities and Washington State Department of Ecology. Crews also provide general project assistance in areas such as brush cutting, community/neighborhood events, and various other general labor tasks on public properties. Work crews do not clean up homeless encampments.
The DOC WORKCREW program has crews in the community 7 days a week, with an average of 4 crews daily. All crews are supervised by uniformed DOC Correctional Officers. Offenders can report directly to the WORKCREW office or to one of five pick-up locations in King County at 7:30 am. Participants will be transported back to their pick-up locations at the completion of the work day at 3:30 pm.
