Cigna / Express Scripts Announcement
On March 8, Cigna announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Express Scripts, a pharmacy services company. Together, we will create an expanded portfolio of health services that offers greater choice, alignment, and value for everyone we serve. With more comprehensive health and well-being engagement between providers and those they serve, we will make it an easier experience for individuals throughout their health care journey.
We will continue operating our business as usual, delivering quality health products and services and ensuring our employer clients and individual customers have access to the care they need.
The announcement does not alter our current day-to-day operations or our relationships.

CignaforHCP.com – new registration and access process coming soon
In the coming months, we plan to implement a new way for all providers (medical, dental, and behavioral) and their staff to register for and obtain access to the Cigna for Health Care Professionals website (CignaforHCP.com). This should result in a faster, more seamless experience, as well as added security. These changes will enable future enhancements.
To accomplish this, we will be creating a new role – website access manager. This role will be assigned to one or more users at each practice. Website access managers will be responsible for:
• Obtaining access for and approving new users at their practice for the website.
• Assigning and managing the level of access each user has to the website. This will help to ensure that users are able to view and perform functions on the website that are aligned and relevant to their job. For example, users who need electronic funds transfer (EFT) banking information to perform their job will have access to it; others will not.
• Removing access for users who no longer need it.
A fact sheet is available to share with providers, and it is attached.
eviCore peer-to-peer clinical consultation process enhancement
Last year, eviCore announced that providers can use a new feature on their website to schedule peer-to-peer clinical consultations for radiology services. We included information on this new feature in the July 2017 Network News.
eviCore has now enhanced this program to include telephonic scheduling of consultations. They designed these enhancements based on provider feedback and successful results in other programs. eviCore will be notifying providers directly of this enhancement.
The new telephonic scheduling process will:
• Replace the general live phone queue option with a scheduled call-back with a peer at the convenience of the provider
• Reduce the overall total hold time for providers
• Allow the warm transfer of urgent calls to an eviCore physician
• Increase the opportunities for scheduling a conversation with a peer with same-specialty expertise
eviCore is also expanding this program to include cardiology and musculoskeletal consultations.
