Course Description
At University Lake School, Spanish is an integrated and an engaging subject beginning in pre- kindergarten. Students are guided through the Spanish language each year through various activities and literature. The Spanish teachers use differentiation in the classroom and keep students actively learning by using a method called TPRS (Total Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling). Spanish classes enhance students’ language abilities as well as their knowledge in geography, history and culture of Spanish-speaking places.By the time students reach sixthgrade, Spanish is spoken in the classroom. Instructions and discussions are often orally given in the target language, with clarification in English given as necessary. The majority of written material is entirely in Spanish.

- Absence due to illness will result in a deadline extension for daily work equal to the number of days missed. Long-term assignments retain their due date pending discussion with MissDallman.
- Upon returning from unexpected absence, the student should look in the designated location for make-up materials, as well as meet with Miss Dallman to obtain class information and confirm deadlines for completing work.
