A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in honor of Annie Rardin.
WHEREAS, Annie Rardin is a senior at Sayre School in Lexington, and through the years, she has demonstrated her outstanding athletic abilities through disciplined and unselfish team play in the sport of basketball; and
WHEREAS, Annie Rardin's basketball career was solid at the beginning of her final season of playing; she was expected to become the school's all-time leading scorer of the Lady Spartans, ultimately leading to a college basketball scholarship; and
WHEREAS, on November 18, 2000, Annie Rardin had the misfortune of tearing the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in her left knee as the Lady Spartans scrimmaged Beechwood High School, an injury that led to surgical repair on December 14, 2000, and a long and grueling six month period of rehabilitation; and
WHEREAS, even though Annie Rardin, due to her knee injury, was unable to participate in the Lady Spartans games, she continued her support by attending the games and sitting with her fellow players on the bench; and on Senior Night against Tates Creek High School, she was allowed to take a pass from a teammate and banked in a layup, resulting in two points gained and a standing ovation from the home crowd; and
WHEREAS, Annie Rardin best exemplifies the finest qualities so inherent in the youth of our Commonwealth; her bravery has pushed her to another stage of her journey, with a goal of playing fast-pitch softball for Sayre School this spring, and we are justifiably proud of her accomplishments, and consider her an ambassador of goodwill;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The House of Representatives does hereby honor, commend, and recognize Annie Rardin for her many athletic accomplishments, and we wish to her immeasurable success in all future endeavors.
Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Annie Rardin.
Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Miss Annie Rardin, Sayre School, 194 North Limestone, Lexington, Kentucky 40507 and to Head Master Clayton G. Chambliss, Sayre School, 194 North Limestone, Lexington, Kentucky 40507.
