Pre-Kindergarten Program

2016-2017 School Year

Dear Parent/Legal Guardian/Foster Parent:

We are pleased that you are interested in the Camden CSD Pre-Kindergarten Program. In order for your child to be considered for the program, you will need to complete and submit the following to our office:

__application packet (including all forms)

__copy of birth certificate

__immunization record

All information obtained in this application process is needed for placement consideration and will be kept confidential.

The program is free of charge. A child’s eligibility for Pre-Kindergarten is determined by the following:

1.  All students are (or will be) four years old on or before December 1, 2016.

2.  All students must reside within the Camden Central School District.

3.  NYS requires all Pre-K students to have a cognitive, speech-language, and physical screening (July).

The three sites have both morning and afternoon sessions that are held five days per week for 2 ½ hours a day.

The educational program is designed to meet the needs of the four year old child. Class size is limited and classes are staffed with NYS certified teachers and teacher aides. Our program is based on the New York State Learning Standards. Classroom activities include early language and literacy development, daily calendar and math, learning centers, experience with dramatic play, outdoor play, art projects, and engagement with hands-on manipulatives, sand/water table play, and field trips.

Parent participation is essential to a child’s success. We will provide ample creative opportunities for working and non-working parents to become involved in their child’s classroom. These include volunteering in the classroom, parent meetings, family functions, parent-teacher conferences, and “at home” activities which may include reading with your child.

Please submit your child’s application packet as soon as possible as any applications received after March 4, 2016 may result in your child being placed on a waiting list. After your application packet forms have been reviewed, you will be notified of your child’s placement in July 2016.
