Branch Operations Supervisor

Position Summary:

Reporting to the General/Branch Manager, the position is responsible for ensuring the customer service excellence of the branch. Oversees all operations functions of the warehouse. Directs and coordinates all activities that relate to the successful and on time delivery of the product to the customers. Manages the operations staff, preparing work schedules and assigning specific duties.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Confer with customers on a daily basis to address questions or problems and requests for service or products.
  • Interact with branch and corporate associates on a daily basis to disseminate information and ensure proper work flow and adherence to policy and procedure.
  • Schedule and dispatch drivers and service vehicles to appropriate locations according to customer requests, specifications or needs.
  • Relay messages and work orders to drivers as needed.
  • Arrange for necessary vehicle repairs in order to restore customer service and schedules. Be pro-active in the maintenance of all vehiclesincluding oil changes and issues found in pre/post trip vehicle inspections, which must be signed off on by the Supervisor.
  • Assure that drivers are filling out vehicle pre/post trip inspection reports daily.
  • Prepare daily work and delivery schedules.
  • Receive or prepare work orders and prioritize delivery routes according to route codes.
  • Perform daily cycle counts and adjust inventory accordingly.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of UPS and/or FedEx shipping and receiving.
  • Monitor associate behavior to address issues or concerns with drivers and/or warehouse personnel hired through 3rd party vendor. Partner with vendor to resolve issues.
  • Act as trainer, coach and mentor to staff, discussing any employee issues with the Branch Manager.
  • Will operate various machinery in the warehouse such as a forklift and automated pallet jack.
  • Will occasionally be required to fill in for drivers in the greater NY/NJ/CT area as needed, making deliveries to offices and/or construction sites.Must be able to qualify as a driver by Colony standards (Clean driving record, annual physical etc.).
  • Responsible for the orderliness and cleanliness of the warehouse including the shipping/receiving areas and the loading dock.
  • Responsible for making sure that all items in warehouse have a bin location and are in the correct location.

  • Must be comfortable with warehouse technology, such as warehouse management systems, signature capture devices, vehicle GPS, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school or equivalent. College degree a plus for future advancement.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license. Driver background check must show a record of sustained safe driving.
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years management experience in a Distribution environment responsible for warehouse/driver management.
  • Must have excellent time management and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent communication skills including speaking, reading and writing in the English language.
  • Proficiency in use of computer including all Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Demonstrated ability to operate motorized warehouse equipment, such as a forklift, in a safe manner.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 100 pounds demonstrating safety techniques.

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 100 pounds, bend, stretch.
  • Must be able to exit and enter vehicle several times per day.
  • Ability to move about warehouse and loading dock area majority of the day.
  • Analytic ability including basic math skills.

Additional Comments:

Must be available on short notice during driver shortage to deliver products to customer sites. This would include any time during 24/7 schedules.A strong customer service “can do” mindset and attitude is required.
