Seventh Annual Chancellor’s Ball Raises Record $88,000 for Student Scholarships and Programs

(Santa Ana)—The stars came out at Rancho Santiago Community College District’s (RSCCD) 2004 Chancellor’s Ball on October 8 at The Grove in Anaheim. Thanks to the generosity of some 400 guests and sponsors, this “evening among the stars” raised more than $88,000 to support student scholarships through the Santa Ana College (SAC) and Santiago Canyon College (SCC) foundations.

“The record amount raised this year will provide additional scholarships for our students as they work to further their education,” said Edward Hernandez, Jr., Ed.D., RSCCD chancellor. “These extra funds can make a world of difference in the lives of some of our struggling students.”

Four Partners in Education were presented awards for their support of RSCCD

students and programs. The 2004 honorees included the City of Orange represented by Mayor Mark Murphy; the Orange County Business Council represented by CEO Stan Oftelie; Santa Ana/Tustin Soroptimist International represented by President Patricia McGuigan; and Michael Weisman, partner and president of DGWB Advertising and Communications representing himself.

tapped for special honors. Paul Amorino, interim dean of instruction and student services, Continuing Education Orange Center, was named Manager of the Year, and Julie Slark,assistant vice chancellor for educational services, was honored with the Chancellor’s Award.
