LESSON PLAN INTERIOR DESIGN
Subject: Revit Material and Material Tags
Instructor: Mr. Brown
Date:
Student Performance Objective:
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
ü Identify Material parameters
ü Add data to the material parameters
ü Use the “Paint” tool to apply materials
ü Create a custom material tag
How will student be evaluated and what methods will be used to measure competency?
Students create a custom material and a custom material tag to read critical data. Teacher will walk the classroom to ensure students have properly created the material tag and utilized the tag on a custom material model.
Anticipatory Set: (Describe the introduction or hook you will use to get students involved in the lesson).
ü How do we show builder paint color on a wall? Floor material? What if there are multiple materials on a floor, wall, or ceiling? Room data doesn’t work so well.
ü Material tag OOTB
ü What if we need more info?
Instructional Component: (include type of lesson and major concepts to be covered)
ü Demonstrate how to create a custom paint
ü Demonstrate how to add data to the paint parameters
ü Demonstrate how to use the paint tool
ü Show Revit OOTB material tag
ü Demonstrate how to make custom material tag to show Description and Mark (Material and Color)
Check for Understanding or Guided Practice:
ü Students will create a new paint material, apply it to a wall, then tag it with a custom material tag. Teacher will walk the classroom to ensure students have created the custom material and tagged it with the custom tag.
Independent Practice:
ü Students will create a new paint material.
ü Students will create a custom material tag
ü Students will apply the paint to a room in the building and apply the custom tag in (Interior) Elevation view.
Closure:
ü There are multiple ways of documenting the materials in a Revit model….the software is not perfect.
ü Creating custom annotations (tags in this case) is a critical job skills for an Interior Designer.
ü GIGO. The tags will only pick up the data if it’s there. Work in the beginning….
ü Smart tags and smart materials are critical to having a coordinated model….fewer mistakes.
Materials Used:
Revit Tutorial book, Revit software, classroom control software or overhead projector.
