Blog 10.24. 16 - Why Study Space?
In ancient times, all people had an intense, invested interest in what they observed or could measure in the heavens. We have talked about their motivations: timekeeping, navigation, and for religious purposes. But now we have no need for such (by our standards) primitive techniques…do we? After all, we have GPS and accurate clocks. Our concept of God has far evolved from worshipping the Sun and stars. So, why in this day and age, should we study and explore space?
For your blog this week, think about this and come up with three different reasons for either learning more about any aspect of the cosmos (Sun, planets, stars, galaxies, universe) or for exploring space beyond Earth. Support your ideas with at least one link to research, facts or a story that shows why this would be good, or useful.
Write three paragraphs (one for each of your reasons), and remember to include a title for your blog and a hyperlink to relevant information.
