Rowing Ireland is pleased to announce delivery of the next Level 2 Coaching Course #8
Level 2 course schedule.
Main Classroom Session for all L2 coaches:
In UL boathouse, Sat 26th Nov (6:30pm-9:30pm) & Sun 27th Nov (9am-5pm)

-Coaching skills, setting the right environment for performance.
-Develop your own coaching philosophy/methods
-Review Technical model and drills
-Introduction to rowing physiology, the demands of the sport, training zones
-Guidelines for working with Lightweightrowers
-Female athlete triad
-Elite athlete lifestyle
-Andrew Coleman + athlete , testing lactate profile of athlete
-Homework and camp planning assignment
Strength Training for rowing with Mark O’Donovan– Rowing Ireland S&C Tutor
Sat 12th Nov in UL (9am-5pm) OR Sun 13th Nov in NUIG (9am-5pm).
-Strength training theory and practical coaching
-Coaching lifting assessment/homework
Jan 7th in Galway or Jan 8th in Cork or Jan 14th in Belfast or Jan 15th in Dublin.
-Coaches must attend one of these sessions.
-Junior 16 Camp. To be planned in advance.
-On water twice for a camp with provincial juniors
-Plan/deliver/reviewtwo water sessions.
-
-Athlete education session, coaches to present (10min each) on assigned topic.
-Rigging practical
Assessment:
The awarding of the Level 2 certificate is based on full attendance and completion of homework tasks and projects. Coaches will be observed during their contribution to sessions throughout the course. The Level 2 Coaches will plan and run the water and land sessions on a one day camp.
Coaches will be required to submit on time a written homework on topics covered during the course. Coacheswillbe required to deliver a 10 min presentation (using any method you wish) to a group of athletes, coaches and tutors on a topic to be decided.
The entry criteria for Level 2 are as follows:
Applicants must be 19 years of age or older and be currently active in coaching. Must hold a Level 1 certificate and be coaching for at least 1 season after completion of the Level 1 course or 3 seasons total since starting. Candidates will be required to sign on to and abide by the Rowing Ireland safety code and the Code of Ethics/Good Conduct in sport guidelines. It is required that candidates have Garda/PSNI vetting or have started the process of vetting.
In exceptional circumstances the coach education committee may invite someone to attend L2 based on recognition of prior experience, qualifications or current coaching role.
Level 2 application form must be returned with fee payment of €200. Fee covers course costs, catering and materials. Payment can be made online Fees for the strength training course are included in L2 fee.
