Psychopaths: an In-depth Investigation into the Mind of a Serial Killer

Introduction

Today we will be investigating antisocial personality disorder. It is a disorder unlike any other.It is the most dangerous disorder a person may have. Antisocial personality disorder has been given different names throughout history. From sociapath to maniac, one thing remains the same...... extremely violent tendencies towards others with no remorse. Better known today as the "serial killer" these people bring much wonder and confusion to the field of psychology. So sit back, relax and enjoy the ride as we delve deep into the mind of the unrelentless monster known as the serial killer.

Who is this elusive creature known as the serial killer that has captured theattention of American culture? With the popular pressproducing dozens of books and movies centered around the serial killer each year, the term has almost become a catch-phrase, replacing earlier terms such as "homicidal maniac." Fiction writers and the movie industry use "serial killer" in a much more casual manner than can be allowed in a systematic study. Therefore, for a proper definition of what constitutes a serial killer, pop culture cannot be used as a source.

Your goal for this project is to profile serial killers and uncover who they are, what makes them tick, what sets them apart from any ordinary killer, and early signs to determine who may develop into this murderous monster.

Task

Part 1: The Introduction

Profile the "typical" serial killer.

You will answer such questions as:

  • What are serial killers?
  • What do they typically look like?
  • Where do they live?
  • Who are the majority of their victims?
  • What are usual practices towards their victims?

Part 2: America's Unknown Epidemic

You will profile one of America's most recent serial killers.

Part 3: The Final Product

Creating a Serial Killer Cereal Box

You will be researching 1 serial killer and creating a visual object to represent a deeper understanding of who this person really was.
