Minutes from SENCo cluster meetings
Spring 2016
- Representatives from the local Nasen branch opened each meeting, informing SENCo’s of the benefits of being a NASEN member.
- In order to continue thelocal branch, new committee members are needed, an informal meeting will be held at Woodchurch High School at 4pm on 10th March. Refreshments provided.
- Margaret Morris from Ellery Park has been seconded as Strategic SEND lead.
- Jez Fellick attended the Claremount meeting to promote an ADHD conference at Clatterbridge Education Centre on April 5th 9.30-4.30.
He apologises that he did not realise it was the Easter break!
- Julie Hudson showed the new Local Offer at Bidston Avenue, unfortunately the internet was down at the Claremount meeting.
- A request for voice over was made, Wirral Youth Theatre have been commissioned to do this for part of the Local offer.
- Andy Humphreys gave the date of the Primary Secondary transfer meeting at Orrets Meadow: 21st June 4-5.
- Schools were asked to update their SEND Information report as necessary.
- The Toolkit SEND will be available by April.
- There was positive feedback re The Outcomes Training, Feb 26th, any schools who missed this are asked to attend BTH Wirral room on 16th March at 4pm.
- The information and new ASP will go on the Local Offer shortly.
- EHCP co-ordinators requested that only recent and current paperwork within the last 12 months is forwarded for requests, and not stapled.
- Within the ASP, when schools refer to any levels they mention could they give a sentence explaining which system they are using. Eg: Target tracker.
- Local Area SEND inspections will start from May 2016, these will look at Education, Health and Social care and Special school provision.
- Wirral SEND managers had a positive meeting with the Dfe before Christmas, EHC plans were praised, Outcomes training has been provided as requested, however, at present we have no designated Health and Social officer.
- Thanks to the 3 schools for their hospitality.

Diary Dates:
- 16th March 4-5 St Albans Primary are hosting HeartMath delivered by Simon Ward. A calming strategy for children. Flyer on WESCOM or contact St Albans for a place. Parking in their school playground.
- 9th June: Dyscalculia Training 1-30- 4.00 delivered by Dr Kathleen Kelly from MMU. Limited places available. Please bring 50 unifix cubes or similar. Places must be pre- booked, flyer on WESCOM, venue to be confirmed but will be Wirral based.
- And finally, my new e mail is my Wirral. gov will not be accessible after next week so please start using the Edsential e mail forthwith!!
