ROLE TITLE - Reserves Volunteer Traineeship
TEAM - Conservation

OVERALL PURPOSE OF ROLE
------
Assist with the management of Cheshire Wildlife Trust reserves.
------
MAIN TASKS
------
· Help the reserves staff to:
· carry out practical conservation tasks such as fencing & access work, reed bed cutting, invasive species control and grassland management;
· recruit and co-ordinate volunteers for practical conservation work parties;
· plan works in relation to management plans and surveys
· assist with species monitoring and survey work
· Assist with promotional resources (volunteer newsletters or media posts).
· Assist other members of staff within the Cheshire Wildlife Trust on a wide variety of tasks.
Practical Arrangements
· This is a 6 to 12 month long volunteer role. Flexible days can be accommodated but a commitment of at least three days per week is suggested.
· Travel expenses will be reimbursed; up to a maximum limit when travel costs have been incurred through carrying out tasks related to the role.
· We will ask for one reference before you begin volunteering with us and your continuation in the role is subject to satisfactory completion of a one month trial period and continued good conduct and attendance.
· The normal working day for CWT is 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday but we may occasionally ask you to help out with events and survey days at weekends and evenings if you are available.
· You will need to have a good level of fitness and mobility and be able to spend a significant amount of time outside, on difficult terrain and in all weathers.
· You will be based at Bickley Hall Farm, Bickley, Cheshire SY14 8EF although due to the nature of the tasks you will be off site on many occasions and able to meet at local venues. You are expected to make your own travel arrangements although car sharing may be available on occasion.
