The Project
Sherman Cymru is delighted to be one of five organisations from across the UK to benefit from a unique gift of £500,000 over 5 years from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, as part of the foundation’s 25th anniversary celebrations. The award is to help us to make significant progress in our work to attract and build relationships with audiences from disadvantaged groups within our local communities.
The overarching aim of our project is to develop access to performances at the Sherman Theatre from geographical areas of Cardiff and South Wales that are under-represented in their engagement with professional arts practice.
We will be prioritsing Communities First areas in Cardiff in the initial stages of the five year project. These community ‘clusters’ in Cardiff are in the top 10% of social deprivation according to the Welsh Index of Multiple Deprivation.
The new post-holder will be working closely with the Paul Hamlyn Club Strategic Committee which includes the Head of Marketing & Customer Relations, Head of Development and the Head of Creative Learning.
JOB PURPOSE:
The purpose of the role is to achieve the overarching aim that is described above.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
/ To lead on the initial research and development phase of the project/ To identify and develop relationships within the communities with key individuals, organisations and networks
/ Working with the Marketing Team on developing and executing communication strategies
/ Working with the Paul Hamlyn Club Strategic Committee, as described above, to set and manage budgets with particular responsibility for the day to day operation of the project
/ Establishing the process and mechanics of how the project will work and how the communities will benefit
/ Database management for Sherman Cymru’s Paul Hamlyn Club
/ Once the project is established, responsible for the day to day running of the Club, including administrative functions
/ Creating and hosting a series of events for targeted communities
/ Working with all teams across Sherman Cymru to ensure the delivery of bespoke experiences for those communities benefiting from the project
/ Strong communication with staff ensuring that the Paul Hamlyn Club is embedded into the established operation of Sherman Cymru
/ Liaising with officers from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, project monitoring and yearly evaluations and progress reports
/ Any other duties that arise from the progress of the project, as agreed with the Head of Marketing and Customer Relations

Note: You are employed as Paul Hamlyn Club Co-ordinator. However you may be asked to perform other duties at the same grade and remuneration package and to the same total hours of work. You will be given four weeks notice of any proposed changes in duties.

Experience
- Experience of working in a community setting
- Experience of budgeting and financial information
- Experience of project management from initial conception through to evaluation
Knowledge and Skills
- Confidence and demonstrable ability in the use of spreadsheets, databases and word processing software
- Excellent organisation skills with a strong ability to work in a logical manner with a high level of attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills with a wide range of people from different backgrounds
- Clean driving licence
- Knowledge of the background to Child Safety / Vulnerable adult / access issues

Outline terms and conditions
Salary / £24,568 fixed term of 5 years ,or/the duration of the project paid monthlyMain place of work / Sherman Cymru, Cardiff
Hours per week / 39 hours per week – full time hours but flexible working pattern
Annual leave / 28 days per annum, including public holidays
Probationary period / Appointment will be subject to satisfactory completion of a six month probationary period
Notice / One week during the probationary period, one month thereafter
Pension / The Company operates a Stakeholder Pension scheme with Legal & General that all staff employed for three months or more are eligible to join
