INTERNSHIP:

USTA Atlanta is the largest community tennis association in the USTA (the governing body of Tennis in the United States) in terms of membership and participation. In 2012, our participation surpassed 50,000 players. The organization just celebrated its 30th Anniversary and proudly offers a wide menu of tennis programs, including USTA leagues, adult and junior recreation programs, and a youth foundation. It was awarded the USTA Community Tennis Association of the Year Award in 2005 and the USTA Member Organization of the Year in 2007 and again in 2012.

The USTA Atlanta office in Atlanta, Georgia, has an opening for our summer internship position.

Programs, Sports Management & Marketing Internship (up to 30 hours/week)

The internship will focus on program administration, marketing, promotions and communications. This internship will provide experience in sports administration, marketing, strategic and tactical planning, communication, promotions, and computer skills (including but not limited to web content management, word processing and database management).

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Assist with USTA Jr. Team Tennis programs.
  • Assist with the administration and promotion of USTA League Tennis programs for adults in addition to other adult recreational programs including the Dave FM Corporate Tennis League.
  • Assist with the Atlanta Youth Tennis & Education Foundation programs and fundraisers.
  • Assist with corporate marketing research.
  • Assist with USTA Atlanta Promotional Campaigns and Events.
  • Assist with the production and distribution of Press Releases.
  • Write for and edit the USTA Atlanta publication “Inside Tennis”.
  • Assist with the writing and updating of Facebook Fan Pages plus other social networking websites.
  • To help develop and implement marketing strategies that will increase individual and team play and lead to membership growth.
  • Organize and update media and sponsorship databases.
  • Attend USTA Atlanta events (schedule permitting).
  • Other responsibilities assigned by the Executive Director.

Candidates must be current students looking for curriculum related internships and able to receive college credit.
Candidate should have strong written and communication skills, plus candidate should be well organized and able to balance several projects at the same time. Word processing skills are a must and website design experience would be preferable.
