Message from the Principal

With the recent events in Florida, I wanted to address issues of security at Lacy. The building remains locked and secured at all times during the school day. We unlock the doors for arrival and dismissal times only. During this time, staff members are on duty and are available to monitor the school for any security issues. Our staff receives safety and security training at the beginning of each school year. We conduct two lockdown drills with the WCPSS security staff and the Raleigh Police Department each year. In our most recent drill, we had 100% of our students and staff secure from possible intruders. We debrief with the staff after our lockdown drills to identify areas of concern and address them appropriately. We constantly work to ensure that our students are safe at all times. We have additional information on our website, including information about how to talk to your children about their concerns.
