Extensive research and decades of best practice in teaching and learning in dance, media arts, music, theatre and visual arts has shown that student participation in a comprehensive education that includes the arts addresses major educational challenges: closing the achievement and opportunity gap, reducing drop-out rates, preparing students for work, career and college, developing 21st Century skills, and producing sound citizens with a perspective on the world and themselves.
