Dear Students and Parents:

It is McLoudSchoolDistrict’sgoaltomaximizeandimprovethe learningexperienceofourstudentsusingnewandemergingtechnologywhenever feasible.Weunderstandtheimportanceofcommunicationbothelectronicallyand verballywith students as well as parents.Thisparentalconsentformishereto requestyourpermissionforstudentuseofMcLoudSchool District GoogleAppsfor Education accounts.

Services Available to Students:

TheGoogleAccountthatwillbeprovidedtoeachstudentwillenablethemtologin andhaveaccesstoGoogleApps:a collectionofGoogle’scoreservices.Studentswill haveaccesstoapplications(Apps)thatallowthemtocreateandeditdocuments, spreadsheets, drawings, and presentations. It providesstudents a place to store

(and upload) all their files. Google Drive allows teachers and students to collaborate

andsharedocumentswitheachother,andcanbeaccessedanywherethereisan Internetconnection.

Accounts

All studentsingradesPreK-­‐12 willreceivea GoogleAccount.Theaccountwillbethe student’sdistrictassignedusername consisting of their first initial and last . Each studentwill be assigneda passwordtohis/heraccount consisting of the student’s first name (all in uppercase) followed by their student ID #.In the event of technical difficulties the districtwill also have the ability to accessthe account and reset the password.

Access Restrictions

Accesstotheseservicesisconsidereda privilege.Thedistrictreservestherightto revokeaccesstotheseservicesifthereisreasontobelievetheuserhasviolatedthe DistrictsInternetAcceptableUsePolicy(IAUP)policyorthelaw.TheIAUPappliesto the Google account and the student’s use thereof.

Security

Googleisoneoftheindustryleaderswhenitcomestothesecurityofitssystems and userdata;however,McLoudSchoolDistrictcannot and does not guarantee thesecurityofelectronicfiles locatedon Google Systems.

Privacy

GoogleAppsforEducationaccountsthat studentswill be using,and thecontent createdbystudentsandstaffareownedandmanagedbyMcLoudSchoolDistrict.Googledoesnot, cannot, andwill not scanuser informationoruserdatafromtheseaccounts,andthuslycannotsellittoanyoneor profitfromanyinformationintheseaccounts.Usersareprohibitedfromaccessing otheruser’sinformation,unlessexplicitlysharedbytheuser,but theDistrict reservestherighttoaccessuser’sinformationanddataat anytimeforanyreason. Students havenoexpectations ofprivacyintheirGoogleaccount.TheDistricthas accesstoandmaymonitoruseoftheaccount.

Your child’sinformationisprotectedbythefollowingFederalLaws:Children’s OnlinePrivacyProtectionAct(COPPA)

COPPAappliestocommercialcompaniesandlimitstheirabilitytocollectpersonal informationfromchildrenunder13.

FamilyEducationalRightsandPrivacyAct(FERPA)

FERPAprotectstheprivacyofstudenteducationrecordsandgivesparentsthe rightstoreviewstudentrecords.

Bysigningbelow,I agreetothetermsandconditionsinthisdocument,andpermit mystudenttouseGoogleAppsforEducation,whichmay includetheuseofGmail.
