What you will do?
The centre staff team has the overall responsibility of running the centrewhich includes all activities that take place, members and visitors to the centre, health and safety, administration, our catering operation, and responsibility for volunteers.
As a data entry volunteer, you will be required to assistour management staff team to enter activity statistics on our database plus assist with updating member details ontotheir memberships.
When will you volunteer?
Volunteers are encouraged to do the hours that suit them and our staff team will inform you on which dayscover is needed. Regular sessions on set days are preferred in order to operate the centreeffectively and be able to plan cover ahead. Volunteers will be required from 9am until approximately 4.00pm Monday to Friday although cover during these times could beduring a morning or afternoon session.
What qualifications and experience is needed?
There are no set qualifications or experience that is required but a liking of carrying out administration would be useful plus being able to use a computer. You will need to be fairly organised,enjoy working in a team, plus be willing to learn how we operate our database system. Volunteers will need to understand how we operate our health and safety management plus observe our confidentiality procedures and you will directed by our staff team to do this.
How will we support you?
Meetings and support in your role
Regular support will be offered by our staff team in the form of volunteer group
and individual meetingswhich are held at the centre and are there for you to be
supported plus voice any concerns or issues that may arise.
Induction and training
You will be given bothAWS volunteer induction and roletraining to carry out your role effectively and be able to enjoy doing so with confidence. If any further relevant training is required, we will try to accommodate this whenever possible subject to availability and funding. All relevant training will be free to our volunteers.
You will need to be patient, have a flexible approach plus have an understanding of older peoples needs. We have fun so a good sense of humour will go down well!
