Prospect Management & Research (LTE/8 Hours a Week)
DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
Responsible for building a methodical system to identify, analyze, prioritize and assign major gift benefactor prospects for Edgewood College. And, monitor progress and provide guidance and direction to the development officers in the management of their major gift prospects.
Responsibilities:
- Personally conduct analytical research and prepare reports in support of various fundraising and marketing initiatives undertaken by the College.
- Using the results of wealth screening data, strategize with college development officers and monitor their efforts in maximizing the use of that data in their fundraising efforts; i.e., identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
- Implement and maintain the prospect management system in order to identify, evaluate, categorize and report on the progress of major gift prospects.
- Analyze and report information on prospect movement, gift potential, prospect rating, and demographic analysis.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Necessary Education or Work Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and several years’ experience in prospect management and/or development research; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
- Clarity of focus while juggling complex projects or meeting deadlines.
- Requires very little physical effort; long periods of sitting at a computer terminal and talking on the telephone.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Administration and management principles, practices and techniques.
- Principles and techniques of development/fundraising.
- Financial indicators such as SEC documents and business financial reporting
- Prospect research, policies, practices and database software available for identifying prospective donors.
- Prospect research tools, computers and the Internet, CD-ROM and on-line databases.
- Budgetary procedures and techniques.
- Effective communication and maintaining good interpersonal relationships.
- Planning, directing, organizing, and staffing.
- Expertise in the advanced APRA skill set.
- Expertise in the prospect and relationship management APRA skill set.
