Pastures Where Livestock Grazing Will be Deferred are Listed Below (refer to attached plan map):
Tract Number: / Total Acres:Field Number / Acres / Field Number / Acres / Field Number / Acres / Field Number / Acres / Field Number / Acres
Deferred Grazing Requirements:
All livestock will be removed and all grazing deferred from SEPTEMBER 1ST, 2002 through OCTOBER 1ST, 2002and MAY 15TH 2003 through JULY 15TH, 2003.
General Considerations:
Consider extending deferring grazing on pastures that are primarily warm season grasses through August 31, 2003 to optimize benefits for plant vigor and regrowth the following year. Pastures that are not being deferred should be managed so that they are not overgrazed to protect the forage and soil resources. Deferred grazing will benefit your pastures by helping them recover from drought/overgrazing by building plant root reserves, which will increase plant growth and vigor the following year.
Dormant Period Grazing:
Dormant period grazing may occur from October 1st, 2002 through May 15th, 2003 when grazing will not damage forage or soil resources. Recommended minimum dormant season grazing heights for various grass species are as follows:
Minimum Dormant Season Grazing Height1
Key Forage Species(Cool Season Grasses) / Minimum Grazing Height (inches) / Key Forage Species
(Warm Season Grasses) / Minimum Grazing Height (inches)
Cool Season mixtures / 3 / Big/sand bluestem / 4
Crested wheatgrass / 2 / Blue grama / 2
Intermediate wheatgrass / 3 / Buffalograss / 2
Green needlegrass / 3 / Little bluestem / 4

Other: / Other:
1Minimum grazing height is the average height in inches when leaves are lifted to vertical position.
I certify that all livestock have been removed from all fields identified above and that they will remain off of these fields the entire time from September 1, 2002 to October 1, 2002 and May 15, 2003 to July 15, 2003.
