ORDINANCE NO. __2007-07_
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GREEN ISLE MINNESOTA TO PROMOTE THE PUBLIC SAFETY, HEALTH AND WELFARE, HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
AN ORDINANCE SETTING A CURFEW FOR MINOR CHILDREN WITHIN THE CITY OF GREEN ISLE.
Section 1:It shall be unlawful for any minor 16 years old or younger to be in or upon any public street, sidewalk, highway, alleyway, boulevard, or any park, playground, school yard, ball park, or any other public area, or to be in or upon any private property without the permission of the private property owner, between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. of the following morning, Central Standard Time.
Section 2: It shall be unlawful for any minor older than 16 years and younger than 18 years to be in or upon any public street, sidewalk, highway, alleyway, boulevard, or any park, playground, school yard, ball park, or any other public area, or to be in or upon any private property without the permission of the private property owner, between the hours of midnight. and 5:00 a.m. of the following morning, Central Standard Time.
Section 3:It shall be unlawful for the parent or legal guardian of any minor to permit or allow the minor to violate any terms of this Ordinance.
Section 4:The provisions of this Ordinance shall not apply when the minor is accompanied by the minor’s parent or legal guardian.
Section 5:The Mayor of Green Isle, with the advice and consent of the City Council, may designate certain nights as “school nights,” or “youth nights,” at such times as the School or other responsible individual or group shall sponsor an athletic, musical, dramatic or social activity for the benefit of minor children of the community, in which case the Mayor may waive the curfew times set out in this Ordinance for those minors participating in said activity. In such cases, however, the minors shall immediately proceed to their place of residence upon the conclusion of the designated event, unless accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.
Section 6:Anyone violating any provision of this Ordinance shall be guilty of a petty misdemeanor, punishable by a fine not to exceed $100.00.
Section 7:The provisions of Ordinance 54 and any other Ordinance in conflict with this Ordinance, shall be considered amended and superseded by this Ordinance.
This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon publication.
