Minutes from 9/19/13 meeting

Meeting called to order at 10:05 a.m.
Tom Fennessey
Updates:
o Ross/Hawkes-Contractors still working on link and top 2 floors of Ross. More asphalt going on lots the 3rd and 4th. Everything should be finished up mid-October.
o Steamline-Project wrapping up, streets being repaired with Faxon being last. Will be some temporary outages as final repairs are done, still some wonky things to figure out. Next week is the kick-off meeting for next year’s continuation of the project.
o Barstow-Ventilation project is in design stage, anticipated to get going mid-October.
o Wessman door/windows-(SK) 10 doors still to be replaced, couple of corners.
o OM basement storage-Chain linked storage areas going in, a couple of walls removed will not be rebuilt.
o NERR-Blue building renovations are being done.
o Athletic fields-Baseball field looking good, drain tile seems to be working well. (SK) Scoreboard needs to be replaced.
o Broadleaf weed control-Met with cabinet yesterday, spraying will be reintroduced on an every other year schedule.
o Snow season approaches-Reminder to everyone to wrap up their outside projects as this is the time of year to start thinking about the snow coming. The new bobcats will be used for snow removal on sidewalks and trucks will be confined to lots and roads.
o Master plan-Setting up focus groups for brainstorming, looking for ideas, suggestions from campus community.
Frank Andrews
o Bleacher inspections will be the week of October 7th.
o Still working on fields, about a dozen turtles being repaired. Soccer field getting more dirt in and spread. Kim and Dave painted baseball lines this morning, football fields will be done tomorrow. Don will be doing spot spraying of weeds.
o Painter is busy doing multiple exterior tasks for NERR.
o Lift training for several staff is being done this morning, more training plus refreshers will be scheduled for winter break.
o Chiller inspections started yesterday.
o Been having problems with can lights in MWC, seems the wrong ballast was used when lights installed. Plan is to replace lights with LED fixtures. FM will look at getting a project to replace all.
o Wessman compressor starting up Monday.
o Ray Chaffey moving to heating plant operator position on Oct. 7.
o An additional parking spot for FM vehicles will be added in the YU parking lot, last metered spot with meter to be removed.

o Not a lot, business as usual.
Bernie Lee
o Steam will be down Friday at Holden and JDHL at 2 pm. It shouldn’t affect much, just no hot water, this should be the last steam outage this year.
o Work on chimney starts next week.
o (To Brian) Boiler wire alarm was clipped when contractors were working on R/H lots.
Round Table Discussions:
· Steve
° Wessman transitioning into ice for the next 6 months.
° Basement door still not painted and no lock (flood related), (TF) will have to follow up with flood contractor BOLDT.
° Coaches want a shed. (FM) No.
° Switched out football clock with soccer clock, broken one will be sent in for repair.
· Brian
° Ross/Hawkes wireless is pretty much up except for a few little access points. Have to start working on the locks next.
° Need to check sump pumps, etc. before snow flies.
° Believe CAN fiber optic is all done, will be able to start using very soon.
° Still working with Simplex on problem fiber run between Swenson and YU, one suggestion is to replace with copper wire.
° Working on getting computers in R/H for custodians.

° Educational Fair was amazing, over 400 students came, lots of high schools participated.
° First week in October and 17th-18th are Fall Preview days.
