Welcome to the Pine Bluff School District Title I Parent and Family Resource Center where our “mission is possible” and our goal is in lockstep with the district’s system goal which is providing outstanding academic achievement for ALL scholars. We have a laser focus on supporting your scholar’s success and recognize the incredible power you have as parents, guardians and families to help your child achieve success.
We are here to help you be an even more involved parent because you are the most important person in your child’s life no matter what their age! As former President Barack Obama said, “In the end, there is no program or policy that can substitute for a parent. Responsibility for our children’s education must begin at home.” Research shows that one of the best tools for student success depends on family and community engagement in their education. Every child benefits from a strong partnership between home, school, and the community.
The Pine Bluff School District adopted the Coherence Framework as the tool that guides the work for the district. Within the Coherence Framework one of the components of the Superintendent’s Focus areas is Family and Community Engagement which is a part of the district’s focus. As a part of the Systemic Pillar ring of the Coherence Framework, parents and community are our stakeholders. We value them and engage them in the teaching and learning process.
The Pine Bluff School District utilizes the National Standards for Parent and Family Engagement based on Dr. Joyce Epstein’s framework which is:
- Communicating: Communicate with families about school programs and student progress through effective school-to-home and home-to-school communications.
- Parenting: Assist families with parenting and child-rearing skills, understanding child and adolescent development, and setting home conditions that support children as students at each age and grade level, and assist schools in understanding families.
- Learning at Home: Involve families with their children in learning activities at home, including homework and other curriculum-related activities and decisions.
- Volunteering: Improve recruitment, training, work, and schedules to involve families as volunteers and audiences at school or in other locations to support students and school programs.
- School Decision Making and Advocacy: Include families as participants in school decisions, governance, and advocacy through Parent Teacher Association/Parent Teacher Organization(PTA/PTO), school councils, committees, action teams, task forces, and other parental organizations.
- Collaborating with Community: Coordinate resources and services for students, families, and the school with businesses, agencies, and other groups, as well as provide services to the community.
Parents, teachers really want and need your help. As part of our family outreach for student success, we provide parenting workshops for parents and professional development workshops for administrators and teachers to promote family and parental engagement in the schools. We provide many ways for parents to and the community to get involved through participation on our Parent Advisory Committee, Volunteers in Public Schools, PTO’s, School Improvement Committees, etc.

Free books & pamphlets in the areas of parenthood, student learning, adolescent behavior and topics important to raising a child to reach his or her potential. We’re a central resource for the latest research, available in convenient and easy-to-read pages and packets.

Test preparation services (GED, SAT, ACT, PSAT, GRE, Driver’s Education, etc.)
Refrigerator curricula for common core
Handouts and workshop presentationson topics such as Helping with Homework, Study Tips, Organizational Skills, etc.
PALs Learning Packs (Parent Assisted Learning Modules in Math & Language Arts for grades K-8
Thirty station community computer lab to help parents break the digital divide. We’ve got the computers, and we will help teach you how to use them. Our labs help parents sharpen computer skills and better help guide your children to online learning resources.
