MEIDAA and Product Design Awards Winners Announced at INDEX andworkspace at INDEX exhibitions
Winners of The MENA Interior Design and Architecture Awards and Product Design Awards celebrated at Middle East’s biggest design shows
Dubai, UAE,24 May, 2016 –The 2016 winners of the Middle East Interior Design and Architecture Awards and of the INDEX and workspace at INDEX Product Design Awards were announced yesterday at an exclusive awards ceremony at Cavalli Club Dubai, following the opening of both events at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
The two competitions, now in their fourth editions, reward outstanding interior design projects across the Middle East and North Africa, as well some of the world’s best product designers with products on display at either INDEX or workspace at INDEX exhibitions.
Out of more than 66submissions, the judging panel has shortlisted 32 projects and 21 products, among which 18 winners wererecognised at the gala celebration last night.
Speaking of the entries, Christopher Seymour, director at Mott McDonald, said: “The entries this year demonstrated an increase in the maturity of designers which no longer follow, but challenge the creativity from outside the region. More flexibility, more ingenuity plus an interesting use of materials. There is great evidence that environmental impact is now becoming a watchword and we are seeing some of the designers being able to demonstrate striking design as part of a strong aesthetic without damaging the planet. The judging team this year enjoyed a productive tension and I know that my views weren’t always shared by others but that was purely due to the top scoring designs being hard to separate! – a very high standard of entries.”
