Welcome to the 2008 Executive Women’s Golf Association South Central Section 8th Annual Lone Star Cup. This year’s Lone Star Cup Match Play Tournament is being held at the White Bluff Resort in Whitney, Texas , only 90 minutes south of Dallas. Rated 4 stars by Golf Digest, the resort’s beautiful New and Old courses are sure to delight all participants. Other amenities include a full service spa, fitness center, private marina, swimming pools, tennis courts, fishing and water sports.
This 2-day team match play competition is open to each Chapter in the South Central Section of the EWGA. Following the Solheim Cup style, the Chapters will play each other in team and individual match play format. Additionally, two days of Fun Play tournaments will be held, so that other Chapter members and friends can join the weekend event. Bag transportation and overnight storage are included in the package rate, and beverage cart service will be available on each day.
The weekend event also includes a Friday evening welcome reception and buffet, two full hot breakfast buffets on Saturday and Sunday, Saturday lunch buffet, Saturday evening banquet and Sunday awards luncheon.

Competition Details:
Saturday, October 4: Each Chapter Team (12 players) will be comprised of two person teams for best ball and alternate shot matches (best ball - 4 teams, alternate shot - 2 teams). Matches will be played on The Old Course red tees. The yardage is 5292, with a slope/rating of 72.4/128.
Sunday, October 5: Singles matches will be played on The New Course. The yardage is approximately 5500, and will be played from modified red tees. We will try to obtain the slope/rating for the revised distance.
Fun Play: Saturday play on The Old Course, the men will play all holes from the white tees, with a yardage of [ ] and a slope/rating of 69.3/118. The ladies will play all holes from the red tees, with a yardage of 5,292 and a slope/rating of 72.4/128. For Sunday’s play on The New Course, men will play all holes from the white tees, with a yardage of 6198 and a slope/rating of 71.3/133; ladies will play all holes from the red tees with an approximate yardage of 5,500.
Pairings/ Handicaps
Team captains are responsible for turning in their team rosters to Elizabeth Hardy () No later than Friday, September 12th. The roster must include each player’s name and current handicap index as of September 1, 2008. Changes to the rosters after pairings have been completed will be accommodated to the extent possible. Each player’s course handicap will be based on the September 2008 handicap index. Team captains are responsible for verifying their player’s handicap index prior to submitting the roster to Elizabeth. It’s a good idea to bring a printed copy of their index in case an issue arises.
Practice Rounds – (254) 694-4000:
White Bluff Resort has offered practice round ratesof $50 for Friday October 3, 2008. Arrangements for practice round tee times may be made through the pro shop at (254) 694-4000 – please be sure to specify New or Old Course. Players are responsible for making their own payment arrangements for all practice rounds.

DIRECTIONS:
From Dallas/Ft. Worth:
Take I-35 South and exit 370 (Spur 579) west to Hillsboro. At the “Old Courthouse” in Hillsboro, take a right going west on Hwy. 22 to Whitney (11 miles). Take the right fork at the Exxon Station (Loop 180) in Whitney and continue to the traffic light. Turn right at the traffic light onto Hwy. 933. White Bluff Resort is approximately 6 miles on the left.
