Residential Curbside Recycling Increased in 2015
In the previous 12 months, Waco residents have continued to increase the participation in curbside recycling and drop-off recycling at the Cobbs Recycling Center. Right now, Waco has the highest number of households participating in curbside recycling in the history of the program.
Here are some tips on recycling in your Waco household:
- One blue curbside recycling cart and one green yard waste cart are included in the monthly fee paid by Waco residents with Waco curbside trash service. To get a blue cart for recycling and a green cart for yard waste, go to Waco-texas.com and complete a request form on-line. You can also pick up a cart at the Cobbs Recycling Center, 2021 44th Street, or the Solid Waste Services main office, 501 Schroeder Drive.
- Blue recycling and green yard waste carts are collected every other week on alternating weeks. Go to Waco-texas.com to find a solid waste calendar or call the number below.
- All recycling and yard waste must be put in the blue and green carts “unbagged” and loose. The blue and green carts are not for trash or garbage.
- All recyclable containers should be empty andit is helpful if you rinse them. Labels do not need to be removed.
- Glass and Styrofoam containers should not be put in the blue curbside recycling cart.
- Glass containers (clear, brown, blue and green) can be taken to the Cobbs Recycling Center at 2021 N. 44th Street (between Cobbs Drive and Trice Avenue) on Tuesday through Saturday.
- Waco residents can recycle electronics at the Cobbs Recycling Center with proof of residency. In 2014, 57.5 tons of electronics were recycled from the Cobbs Recycling Center!
- Freon containing appliances are banned from landfill disposal and cannot be recycled until the Freon has been removed. Waco residents can get the Freon removed at the landfill or the Cobbs Recycling Center for a $15 fee. Appliances will be recycled after removal of the refrigerant.
