POSITION PURPOSE:
  • This position manages and own, entire engineering projects; design, develops and implements safe, optimal and cost-effective manufacturing processes, equipment and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards and recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls. Coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products or projects.
  • This position leads and participates actively on continuous improvement initiatives as well as quality improvement and maintenance improvement projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design, develop and support new manufacturing processes required to support new technologies.
  • Make recommendations on the procurement of new equipment and technology to enhance current process.
  • Support New Product Development activities from concept to ramp up production. As part of a member of the Process Excellence Engineering team, provide direction on costing, manufacturability changes, equipment selection, capacity analysis & quality. Provide support on engineering prototype builds, pilot production and production.
  • Support product transitions and/or integrations.
  • Develop needed manufacturing documentation required to support production builds. These documents may include routings, control plans, work instructions, Gauge R & R and other manufacturing related documentation.
  • Lead Process FMEA activities to ensure process shortcomings are identified and addressed. Participate in design FMEA activities.
  • Support continuous improvement manufacturing engineering activities to achieve and exceed quality targets.
  • Use of statistical techniques as a tool to improve existing processes and define new processes.
  • Participate in Product Design reviews to insure manufacturability of products.
  • Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans; conferring with management.
  • Determines project timeline and responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements.
  • Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements.
  • Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems.
  • Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes; recommending actions.
  • Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions.
  • May be required to travel to other AmesburyTruth locations to assist or lead engineering projects.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
  • Project Management.
  • Working knowledge of the PPAP and SCARs processes.
  • Experience in cost justification for the procurement of capital equipment.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally (in person or by telephone) and in writing as required.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, with the ability to work independently, as well as cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management and third parties.

QUALIFICATIONS / PRIOR EXPERIENCE:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering.
  • 5yrs + experience in high speed and high volume manufacturing.
  • Experience in automation and tooling.
  • Experience in Motion control will be a plus.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Lean and Six Sigma Principles.
  • Experience in ISO 9002 Standards.
  • Fluent in MS-Office Suite, with a working knowledge of CAD and Enterprise Resource Planning. PLC logic is desirable.
  • This position is based at Owatonna, MN, it will require travel to manufacturing operations n USA as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • The work performed is conducted in a manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels that are within OSHA limits
  • Must be able to walk, talk, sit, stand, think and communicate verbally continuously throughout an 8 hour period
