John earned the Light of Christ and Parvuli Dei religious awards as well as the Arrow of Light badge while in Cub Scouts.

In March 2004, John crossed over from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts and became a member of Troop 265. He progressed through the scouting ranks, earning Tenderfoot and Second Class in 2004, First Class in 2005, Star in 2006, and Life in 2007. John has served Troop 265 as Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader and Troop Guide. John attended the Sea Base high adventure camp in the Bahamas in the summer of 2008.

For his Eagle Project, John designed and constructed a serenity garden, at Maur Hill Mount Academy in Atchison, Kansas. The garden was dedicated to the memory of a camp director and faculty member of Maur Hill, Rob Stevens, who died unexpectedly in February of 2009. Mr. Stevens was an inspiration to John when he spent a number of enjoyable summers at Camp St. Maur. The

following summer, Robert enjoyed more hiking, river rafting, and mountain biking at Rocky Mountain High Adventure Base in Colorado. During his tenure with Troop 265, Robert was guided by the outstanding leadership of Scoutmasters Jon Blongewicz, Terry Ecklund, and Jerry Robison as well as many other adult leaders.

For his Eagle Project, Robert planned, coordinated, and led a team of scouts in planting flowering crab apple trees around part of the walking trail at Rosehill Elementary School. These replaced trees that were removed during the trail installation in 2006. Robert would like to thank all those who helped.

For the past 2 years he has been a proud member of the Rompin’ Stompin’ Raider band at Shawnee Mission South, playing the tenor saxophone. He recently started playing the baritone saxophone in the Concert Band.

“Dark Storming Sparrow”

Robert was born on April 23, 1995, in Overland Park, Kansas. He is 15 years old and is a sophomore at Shawnee Mission South High School. He is the son of Pam and Steve Vohs. A shining moment came when he won the best car design in the Pinewood derby with his “Bullet Pikachu” car. Under the leadership of Bill Fonger and his Father, he progressed through the Cub Scout and Webelo ranks and earned his Arrow of Light award in 2006.

In February of 2006, Robert crossed over from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts, becoming a member of Troop 265 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
