The Senior Technician (Sound and Video) works as part of the Technical Department providing technical support in all areas but with particular emphasis on Sound and Video at the required high standards for all Wiltshire Creative productions and related projects.

These responsibilities involve a number of key activities as outlined below:
Departmental
- To assist the Technical Manager as required
- To support the Technical Manager in the effective management of all technical areas.
- To take an active role in the maintenance of the theatre’s technical equipment.
- To attend staff meetings as required
- To participate in the technical department administrative and HR systems as required
Production
- To assist the Technical Manager during fit ups and get outs for productions and events in all Wiltshire Creative spaces.
- To provide technical support in all areas but with particular emphasis on (specialism tbc)
- To support creative teams for all productions presented by Wiltshire Creative
- To be prepared to create lighting / sound / projection designs for in-house productions if required
- To attend Production and Progress meetings as required
- To operate the counterweight flying system and other stage systems during get ins, get outs and show running.
- To program and operate lighting and sound desks in all spaces as required.
- To provide show cover in all technical areas as required
- In liaison with the Technical Manager provide technical support for other departments throughout the organisation and in particular the Take Part department
- To liaise with visiting technical personnel ensuring their requirements are met and are compliant with Wiltshire Creative policies
- To keep up to date with all current lighting, sound and stage technology.

CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION
Essential
- A minimum of three years technical theatre experience preferably in a producing environment
- A thorough understanding of the production process and theatre production techniques
- A broad based knowledge and practice in all technical areas but with specialist knowledge and experience in at least one of the following areas
- Staging, rigging and counterweight flying, including operating and maintenance of these systems
- Theatre lighting including intelligent lighting systems, rigging, programming (ETC consoles), operating and maintenance
- Theatre sound including digital technologies, operating systems (Q Lab) radio mics and live mixing
- Video and projection equipment, including programming and operation.
- Staging outdoor / site specific events within a festival context
- A willingness to learn new skills and work in all technical areas
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Collaborative skills and experience of successfully working with creative teams
- Excellent team management skills
- Strong organisational skills
- Practical experience of PAT testing and maintenance programs
- Good IT skills including Microsoft office
- Basic stage carpentry skills and working experience of scenic fit ups
- An interest in theatre and the performing arts and a good awareness of the industry and its workings
- The ability to remain calm, positive and professional when working under pressure
- The ability to work on your own and to solve problems
- Experience of Health and Safety practice and procedures including Risk Assessments
- Flexible approach to working and the ability to work unsocial hours

Desirable
- Education to NVQ Level or equivalent in a relevant subject
- A knowledge of and ability to use CAD software
- Experience of working in a receiving venue
- Experience of lighting and sound design
- Knowledge of video and projection equipment and operation
- Operational experience of building management systems such as heating, lighting, air handling and fire alarm systems
- Experience of touring and presenting work in non-conventional performance spaces
- Full clean driving licence
- City and guilds or equivalent electrical qualification
- Range of vocational training relevant to this post such as First Aid, Tallescope, PAT testing, Mobile Elevated Work Platforms, Use of Ladders, Rope Access, Manual Handling, Rigging
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- Salary:£24,480.00 per annum
- Hours:Annualised up to 44 hours per week to be worked as required
- Holiday:240 hours (32 days) including 8 days statutory public holidays rising in line
with length of service.
- Term:Permanent contract subject to probationary period of three months
- Pension:Wiltshire Creative offers a pension scheme through People’s Pension, whereby contributions will be deducted from salary and is currently matched by Wiltshire Creative up to 1.5% of salary rising in line with auto-enrolment regulations.
Wiltshire Creative is legally obliged to auto-enrol all eligible employees into this scheme after three months’ employment, although the employee has the right to ‘opt out’.
