BlueBay Asset Management LLP is wholly owned by Royal Bank of Canada and part of RBC Global Asset Management, the asset management business of RBC Wealth Management. BlueBay Asset Management LLP is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
BlueBay runs a number of internship programmes ranging from 3 up to 12 months in duration, spent within a single department of the firm and aiming to give the successful candidates a good insight into the workings and responsibilities of a specific area of BlueBay’s business. These internships cross a diverse range of business areas, throughout our global business development, infrastructure and investment teams.

The Human Resources Department:
The Human Resources department is made up of roughly 12 members of staff and is led by the Partner, Head of Human Resources, and consists of four specialist functions; Reward, Generalists, Employee Relations and Recruitment. Collectively the team provides HR support to all areas of BlueBay’s business and a population of circa 420 employees globally.
Programme Structure:
· The Human Resources internship programme will be 12 months’ long (commencing June 2016) and will give you exposure and to the following areas;
Reward, Compensation and benefits, Recruitment, Onboarding, Employee relations, Learning and development and Ad hoc projects .
· This internship most suits an undergraduate or recent graduate looking to develop a successful career in Human Resources and as such is seeking to gain commercial experience working within a HR department of a successful Asset Management firm.
· The successful Human Resources intern will have the opportunity to gain an understanding of the department as a whole and be involved in day-to-day projects and tasks as well as observe and learn from BlueBay employees on more sensitive tasks.
· In addition to on-the-job training and support, interns are invited to attend a one-day Introduction to Asset Management course, comprising an interactive session in the morning with an external training provider, followed by lunch with the CEO and Head of HR, and then afternoon presentations from Partners or Department Heads from across the business. Interns also attend tailored Make the Most of Your Internship at BlueBay sessions throughout their programme, to enhance and develop both their professional and personal skills whilst deepening their understanding of BlueBay.
· During the internship, structured and detailed performance feedback will be provided to interns.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Compensation & Benefits
· Assist with the monthly outsourced payrolls (UK and overseas) and deal with any payroll related queries from employees, with the support of the team
· Liaise with external suppliers when required such as pension provider and childcare voucher provider
· Support with the day to day benefit administration including reconciling invoices
· Assist with queries from staff relating to employee benefits
· Provide administrative support to the team including tasks such as scheduling compensation related meetings with managers and preparing letters to third party suppliers
· Arranging manual compensation related payments, liaising with Finance to ensure prompt payment
HR Administration
· HR Invoices – verify, process and review invoices for accuracy and manage process for processing for payment and track on departments spreadsheet
· Responding to third party reference requests
· Record employee personal data on to the HRIS for each employee, including information such as addresses, basic salary, contact information, absences and performance.
· Identify and process HRIS changes Record and monitor sickness, chase self-certification forms or fit to return to work notes.
Training & Development
· Administrative responsibility for the accurate and timely production of Training and Development communication/correspondence (internal and external), e.g. production of course joining instructions, booking courses and venues.
· Maintenance of training and development records/requests.
· Collating, proofing and issuing of training and feedback documentation.
Recruitment
· Assist with internal and external recruitment process by liaising with direct applicants to provide feedback
· Placing job ads, screening responses (CV and telephone screening)
· Interview scheduling
Liaising with agencies to source CVs and co-ordinate interviews.
Personal Skills and Experience:
· Penultimate or final-year university student or recent graduate with an excellent overall academic profile; at least a 2:1 achieved at year 2 and expected or achieved 2:1 final grade. Ideally studying Human Resource Management.
· Must have the ability to work efficiently and effectively with a high level of activity and changing priorities and have absolute discretion when dealing with confidential matters.
· Prior HR experience or knowledge would be a clear advantage.
· Good awareness of the different components of an HR department.
· Good organisational skills, communication, and attention to detail.
· Adaptability and able to work on own initiative.
· Be patient, tactful, diplomatic, helpful and approachable.
· Work as a strong team player and as an individual when needed.
· Demonstrable written communication skills, numeracy skills, strong interpersonal and organizational skills with good attention to detail and commercial awareness are required.
· Experience in a similar administrative role is essential.
· Ability to provide examples of a pro-active approach to personal development.
· Ability to demonstrate commercial thinking alongside a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude to all aspects of work.
· Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
