Business-Wants workers to-
show up on time, wants a good attitude, work their way up, able to follow directions, problem solving skills, multi-tasking for smaller business, appearance.
Obstacle- Students need to be 18, Job Shadowing, Employability skills as part of grade-work necessary for PLTW CTE, Apprenticeship programs-could be sweeping, putting away parts etc. REACH Center as resource for resumes, internships, other classes.

Volunteer in Health Care Careers. Students need experience/hours to be accepted in professional programs. Practice on professionalism.
Opportunities for students to job shadow/volunteer are difficult due to HIPA & backround checks.
Kids need to get their “foot in the door”, Networking opportunities need to be available to increase student success.
We need to provide programs that set students up for success with real life experience and logged hours. We need to educate students on how to set volunteer opportunities up for them.

Concerns: struggles w/soft skills, is that transferring to the work force.
Advisors have concerns with communications, professionalism, and the sense of collaboration by new employees. Technology has become an obstacle than enhancement. Basic evaluations are assessed on teams rather than individuals. Teams hat to deal with these individuals.

Geographic access, transportation to receive opportunities-
Skype mentors, Church Vans, getting students to school prior to the school day, Parent carpools, Parent to Parent contact.
Talk to students that are not at entry level, explain how they got to their job and continued, such as at the director level-
Develop professional network, Identify options in social service, probation officers to students, non-traditional girls day, hands on course like “nurse camp”
