SPECIAL AWARDS CLASSES
My thanks to the Hungarian Vizsla Club for doing me the honour of inviting me to judge the Special Awards Classes at their Club Open show. My gratitude also to the exhibitors for their sportsmanship and graceful acceptance of my placings. Apart from a few examples of wobbly hocks, I found the breed to be in good overall fettle. On a personal note, I feel it may benefit some exhibitors not to place the rear feet of their dogs so far back as it can tend to make them appear longer than they actually are.
Junior D or B (4 dogs, 1 absent) 1st Savage’s Karaszy’s Falco Peregrinus at Silvestre. Seven month old dog in excellent condition throughout. Developing well in all departments. Well shaped skull with alert intelligent expression and kind eye. Biddable in temperament with ideal ring presence. Clean reach of neck leading well into forehand. Ideal depth to chest with muscled coupling. Excellent balance between front and rear assemblies facilitating an even, efficient ground covering action. Well placed hocks and tight feet. 2nd Sutherland’s Carnlochan Sirocco. Thirteen month bitch who has all the required attributes but is still developing. Sweet, alert expression and enthusiastic attitude. Lean balanced skull with excellent dentition and clean reach of neck. Bone and musculature coming on well. Moved out with easy action and good drive from well placed hocks and strong, tight feet. Maintained a level, strong topline throughout. 3rd Rutherford’s Kincsem Pussy Galore. Post Graduate D or B. Clean correct dentition with good reach of strong neck. Ideal chest depth to overall height ratio. Strong over loin and short coupled. Excellent condition throughout. Ideal shape to skull with kind expression and alert attitude. Correct depth of chest and strong over loin. Not quite the smoothness of movement as winner but still a great force to be reckoned with. Balanced throughout with low placed hocks and strong tight feet. 3rd Whitfield’s Alfizbet The One And Only. Open D or B. (12, 5a) 1st Northwood’s Hookside Gabor. Six year old dog so noble and typical of the breed. Excellent shape to skull with good ear placement and clean, correct dentition. Clean reach of muscled neck leading well into forehand.
