MEETING MINUTES - NOVEMBER 8, 2016
- Call to Order at 3:48 pm

- Welcome and Introductions
- Secretary’s Report
- Approval of minutes from the October 11, 2016 meeting were made by Amanda Alliss and seconded by KevyPaviadakis.
- Treasurer’s Report
- As this is Liz Patterson’s last year at Eisenhower, the PTO Treasurer position is open for next year. If anyone would like to help with this position, please contact us.
- Correspondence
- Principal’s Report: Mrs. Mary Ann Chapko
- The Game Truck will be here for Read-A-Thon winners on Wednesday, November 9th.
- The Veteran’s Day Program will be Friday, November 11th at 2:00pm in the gymnasium.
- Mock Spell Bowl will be at 2:00pm and the Birthday Sundae Party will be at 3:00pm on Wednesday, November 16th.
- The Spell Bowl Competition will be on Thursday, November 17that Wheeler Middle School at 5:00 pm.
- Mini Economy will be on Wednesday, November 23rd from 2pm to 3pm in the Cafeteria.
- On Thursday, December 1st, we will be half way through second quarter.
- Old Business
- Fright Night (Anna Kenbok)
We need some people to take over as co-chairs for the games, cafeteria, and the dance. We also need volunteers for check-in and refreshments. We had a great turnout with 459 students. We ran out of water and it was suggested that we purchase Igloo water jugs. It was also suggested that we ask Key Club to help with the cleanup.
- Read-a-Thon (Kelly Barajas)
The amount raised was $18,122.10 (236 readers out of 577 students). The first check received was $10,873.58 and the second check will be sent within 30 days of closing for $2,718.32. The amount to school was $13,591.58 and the amount to students was $2,718.32. The game truck will be here on Wednesday, November 9th. We received great feedback on this event.
- Spirit Wear (Patty Begley and Jori Dusseau)
The order was turned in.
- New Business
- “PTO Volunteer” and “Student of the Month”
PTO Volunteer: JaceanStiener- Coordinates PVR, co-coordinates Birthday Sundae parties, and sets up the announcements on the sign outside in the parking lot.
Student of the Month: PetarVrbica–he raised $915 and had 26 supporters for Read-a-Thon.
- Midwest Open Gym Night (Carrie Poulter)
Is held every third Saturday from 7-9pm in Crown Point. The October event was attended by 59 kids ($295-$30 for chaperones= $265 profit!). The next one will be on Saturday, November 19th from 7-9pm. There will be a class contest for participation. Teachers count for 5 points. The winning class will get two large pizzas. The cost is $10 per participant and $5 goes to PTO. We need chaperones for this event and teachers would be great!
- McSchool Night (Carrie Poulter)
Is held every third Wednesday. The next one is Wednesday, November 16th.
- Angel Tree (Jori Dusseau)
There will be a Gelsosmos’ Night on Wednesday, November 16th. There will be a Teacher Baby Picture Contest. Students will give $1 for a try to match a teacher with his/her baby picture. There will be prizes.
- Santa’s Secret Shop (Michelle Thiel and Carrie Poulter)
This event will be held the first week of December. We need gift bags and tape. We will be using Volunteer Spot to sign up for shifts.
- Crafternoon (Kelly Barajas/Co-Chairs)
Due to the many activities going on in December, we will have Crafternoon in the spring.
- Labels for Education (Renee Gross)
We have a balance of 70,641 points.
Drawing Winner - Renee Gross was the winner!
A motion to adjourn was made by Christi Oosterhoff and seconded by Cyndi Bazin at 4:32 pm.
The next PTO meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at 3:45pm in the Ike Library. We hope to see you there!
