Wayne County ‘Cooking with Kids’ Recipe Contest Winners Selected
WOOSTER, Ohio – May 5, 2009 – From a field of 35 entries, Troy and Hattie Carr of Wooster were chosen as the winners of the “Cooking with Kids” recipe contest at the Wayne County Home and Garden Show. Their recipe, Steak Salad, earned them the grand prize, which included $600 of Certified Angus Beef ® brand products over the next year at Buehler’s Fresh Foods, and a $200 donation to the charity of the winner’s choice: the Christian Children’s Home.
Five teams of children and adults from across Wayne County were selected as finalists and presented their dishes, all of which featured the Certified Angus Beef ® brand, at the show. Judges Mary McMillen and Melissa Brewer of Certified Angus Beef LLC, headquartered in Wooster, evaluated the dishes for originality, taste and appearance.
Second place went to Tina and Noah Saal of Sterling, for their South of the Border Cups. John Steiner and Callilah Carbone of Creston took third prize with Steiner Beef Stir Fry.
