  • a doctorate completed within the last five (5) years
  • a tenure-track position

2. Submitted by an established researcher who meets at least one of the two (2) criteria:

  • a record of productive research in their area of expertise, year after year, and/or
  • a minimum offourrefereed research contributions, a minimum of two of them being refereed articles, chapters and books during the previous five years

3. Submitted by an established researcher who meets the following criteria:

  • has experienced a career interruption or delay for family, medical or professional reasons

SSHRC supplement (conferences outside of Ontario and Québec)

Based on the availability of funds from the budget for dissemination assistance, these funds will be disbursed on a priority basis to emerging researchers who do not have external funding.

The SSHRC Travel supplement allocates funds to University of Ottawa researchers in the social sciences and humanities for travel expenses incurred when they present their research results at international scholarly conferences.[1]

To request the SSHRC supplement, the researcher must clearly show the following:

That the scholarly conferencewill have significant international participation (participants must originate from at least three different countries – maximum 20 lines)

The researcher must indicate that this project will lead to an application for funds to an external organization, as the principal researcher:

The expected title of the application for funds
The name of the funding organization targeted

Documents to be added to the application:

  • Your 4 page OCGS format CV showing funding and publications for the last five years
  • Approval of the presentation by a scholarly committee
  • Documents from the conference organizers concerning the number of participants expected and their place of origin
