SPORT SCIENCE EXPERIENCE

Movement Analysis Lab Assistant (research)

Delaware State University (Dover, DE)Aug. 2008 to May 2009

  • Participated in the study of a jumping research project. The project consisted of twenty four athletes who were all hooked up to motion sensors attached at each joint center for precise readings of angular/linear displacement, velocity, and acceleration, and electromyography (EMG) sensors were attached at the belly of certain muscles (every athlete had the same muscles measured) of the athletes’ dominant leg to monitor the electrical activity of the muscles. I instructed the athletes to stand on a force plate and complete a repetition of 30 consecutive jumps. The purpose of the study was to monitor the athletes’ muscular fatigue of the dominant leg throughout 30 continuous jumps, throughout a variety of different sports.
  • Exceptional knowledge in dealing with the software Vicon-Motus, AMTI force plates and EMG tools, & Vicon high speed video cameras.
  • Found that every athlete (women and men) in their perspective sport had different firing rates of their muscles due to their sport.
