- Summary
This document provides guidance on how to install Endpoint Security and Control version 9.5.
- It assumes that Sophos is NOT managed by Enterprise Console and is for standalone configurations only;
- It assumes that you are authenticated with administrative rights on the computer onto which you are installing;
- Screenshots may vary.
If you are attempting any other upgrade, please contact Capita Service desk for more assistance.
- Installation
- Download the installer
Browse to and download the relevant installer depending on the operating system you are installing onto. Once downloaded, click run
The rest of this document will detail installing onto a windows platform
If you chose to save the file, once the download is complete, click Run
If encountered with additional warnings, click ‘Run’
2.2.Install Endpoint Security and Control
The default destination folder is C:\savw_97_sa, change this if you need to then click install
An installation wizard opens, click next
Accept the terms of the licence, click next
Change installation folder if required, click next
Tick the ‘I will enter these details later’ tick box, click next
Tick the box next to ‘remove third-party security software’. If you are unsure if your product is on the list, follow the link; click next, then next again
Install progress is shown
Click finish
2.3.Configure Endpoint Security and Control
Right click the blue shield icon on the task bar
Then click configure updating
In the Primary server Tab, enter the relevent URL into the address field. Populate the username and password section with the details provided to you for this service.
Address Options:
Windows 2000+ -
MAC OSX -
Linux -
Then either wait for the scheduled update or force an update by right clicking the shield icon and selecting ‘update now’ (a popup will then show progress of the download)
You will be prompted to reboot to complete the install process.
After a reboot the install will be complete.
- Notes:
- It’s recommended that an update be started, to immediately download the latest definitions, by right clicking the shield icon and selecting ‘update now’ from the popup menu.
- If the standalone computers go outside the OPENHIVEisp network make sure the update address in the Secondary Server is the same as the Primary address (keeping the username and password the same[AS1]).
