  3. CHAPTER HOUSE/FAILING MUSEUM: 206 Justice Street Fremont, Ohio 43420 419.307.4100 Colonel George Croghan Chapter’s Organizing Regent, Julie Haynes’ family home and the Minnie Louise Failing Museum are open for tours.
  4. OLD BETSY CANNON: 423 Croghan Street Fremont, Ohio 43420 This cannon is memorialized with a DAR commemoration plaque dating from1902.
  5. HARRISON ROCK: Intersection of Route 20 and Route 590 West of Fremont, Ohio 43420 Major General William Henry Harrison and his troops used this 13’x10’x7’ slab as a ‘mess’ table. It was saved from ’TNT’ by the Colonel George Croghan Chapter of the OSDAR.
  6. FORT STEPHENSON: 423 Croghan Street Fremont, Ohio 43420 Colonel George Croghan and his 160 men are honored for their defense of the Fort with a DAR plaque placed in 1903.
  7. HAYES PRESIDENTIAL CENTER: Spiegel Grove Estate Fremont, Ohio 43420 800.998.7737 The first presidential library. Celebrate literacy!
  8. GLACIAL GROOVES GEOLOGICAL PRESERVE: Kelleys Island, Ohio 43452 866.921.5710 The original historic preservation site in Ohio.
  9. INSCRIPTION ROCK PETROGLYPHS: Kelleys Island, Ohio 43452 866.921.5710 The Native American Committee suggests this study of Indian symbols.
  10. BLACK SWAMP BIRD OBSERVATORY: 13551 North State Route 2 Oak Harbor, Ohio 43449 419.898.4070 BSBO strives to maintain the ecology of this land and birds as they were when the area was populated by the Black Swamp people.
  11. RIVERSIDE CHAPEL: 1417 South Clinton Defiance, Ohio 43512 419.438.2880 After a 1960’s fire, the Fort Defiance Chapter restored and maintains this 22’x34’ chapel made of natural resources from around the country. It is used for small weddings, funerals, and community services.
  12. TELL TAYLOR MONUMENT: Riverside Public Park Findlay, Ohio The Fort Findlay Chapter helped establish this memorial. While fishing the Blanchard River and pining for his old sweetheart, Tell Taylor composed the Song ‘Down by the Old Millstream’. It was published in 1910, one of 21 songs Mr. Taylor wrote.
  13. MAZZA MUSEUM: 1000 North Main Street Findlay, Ohio 45840 419.434.5521 This museum, located on the campus of the University of Findlay, specializes in the art of children’s picture books. The Fort Findlay Chapter is proud to be part of the Board of Directors and the docent program.
  14. HULL’S TRAIL: State Route 68 and State Route 15 intersection (location of Ohio’s first State Park) Findlay, Ohio A DAR plaque commemorates the ‘trail’ constructed by General Hull and his troops for the safer passage of soldiers and supplies north to Detroit.
  15. JAMES FINDLAY AND THE FORT: Corner of Main and Front Streets Findlay, Ohio This plaque honors Colonel James Findlay and his men for the construction of Fort Findlay, a stronghold in Ohio during the War of 1812.
