PROSPECT RESEARCh intern

Min. time commitment: 35 hours per week
Reports to: Executive Director & Operations and Administration Manager
The prospect research intern will have two main responsibilities. First, the intern will conduct prospect research for Fresh Arts and the projects that the organization fiscally sponsors. This will include:
- Evaluating current prospects
- Researching new prospects using tools such as Foundation Center and Grant Station
- Some stewardship including reaching out to current or past donors and grantors, and sending tax receipts and acknowledgements
- An assessment of Fresh Arts’ current funding structure, and conducting a SWOT Analysis based on findings
- Gathering data that can be used in future grant proposals including financial information, demographics, and historical donors
- Research of CRM systems
- Putting together a mailing list for Fresh Arts annual patron campaign
- Working with the Executive Director and Administration and Operations Assistant to create a comprehensive development plan that will include the following:
- Grants calendar for FY2017-2018
- System for tracking grants
- Workflow for receiving and recording grants
- Historical grant information
- SWOT analysis of current funding structure and processes
- Preparation for presentation of development plan to the Fresh Arts Board of Directors
Second, the intern will assist with prospect research for Fresh Arts’ annual Winter Holiday Art Market. This will include:
- Putting together a mailing list for invitations/underwriter letters
- Gathering lists of potential sponsors and making first contact
- Creating an in-kind sponsorship packet and contract for in-kind donors
Qualifications:
- Interns must be high school graduates, currently enrolled full-time undergraduate college students thathave finished their freshman year, and are returning to college as a full-time undergraduate in the fall of 2017
- Must be able to provide enrollment verification
- Strong analytical thinking is a must
- Basic knowledge of fundraising techniques and prospect research in nonprofits
- Creative problem-solving with ability to juggle multiple tasks
- Possess superior organizational skills and attention to detail
- Quick learner who is highly motivated and pro-active
- Basic knowledge of Quickbooks, Constant Contact, and CRM software is desirable
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good working knowledge of nonprofits through prior work experience or in the classroom
- Interest in the arts and community involvement is desirable
Compensation:
- Intern will receive a $2,500 stipend from Shell’s Summer Internship Program paid in twice-monthly installments – (student must have an active bank account to receive direct deposit)
