Statement of Intent
We are committed to provide a caring, friendly and safe environment for all of our pupils so they can learn in a tangible and secure atmosphere. Bullying of any kind is unacceptable in our school. If bullying happen, pupils should report to the school proper authorities so that the incident will be administered quickly and effectively.
As a school we will aim to respond quickly, responsively and effectively to all faces of bullying.
Objectives of this Policy
- To ensure that all teaching staff including the principal, school head, stakeholders and pupilshave an understanding of what is bullying means.
- To ensure that all teaching staff including the principal, school head, stakeholders, and pupils know what the school policy is on bullying, and what they should do if bullyingarises.
- To ensure that as a school we take bullying solemnly. Pupils and Parents should be confident that they will be supported when bullying is reported

A. PROHIBITED ACTS
- Being unfriendly, anguishing, tormenting(e.g. hiding things, threatening acts)
- Pushing, punching, hitting, kicking, or any violent action
- Racial discrimination, taunts,graffiti, etc.
- Sexual abusive annoying or continuing physical contact.
- Name calling, sarcasm, spreading rumors, teasing
- Mobile threats by text messaging and calls, misuse of associated computer technology (e.g. facebook, blog,
twitter, cyber video and camera, etc.)
B. PREVENTION AND INTERVENTION PROGRAM
- Pupils/parents should report an incident of bullying to any members of the child protection committee.
- The committee members should make it clear to the
victim that revenge is not the solution to the problem.
- The committee members will record the details of the incident and discuss it with the pupil/parent to ensure the truthfulness of the incident.
- The bullying incidents should be investigated thoroughly or absolutely.
- Witness statement may be taken from other pupils
- A restorative meeting will take place on pupils involve so that both can understand the behaviour. Following the meeting a contract of behaviours may be put into place to support both the victim and the pupil/s leading the bullying.
- In all cases, parents will be informed that there will be an opportunity to discuss the problem
- Action will be made to help the bully(bullies) change their behaviour.
- Assessment on how successful the initial intervention has been and whether needs any further action to be taken.
10. If there is no significant change in the behaviour of the
bully(bullies) a further restorative meeting will be
arranged. The outcome will include the contract of
behaviour of both parties.
11. Parents will be updated regarding the interventions
and will be informed of the future actions which may
need to put into place
12. If the bullying behaviour continues, and counselling
has not work, then sanction follow. Appropriate
sanctions will be applied to the bully and if necessary,
police (women and children desk) will be consulted.
13. It is important that counselling is applied for both
parties, even the sanction have been applied.
B.1. Outcomes
1. The bully (bullies) will be asked to genuinely apologise
and must engage in the restorative process with the
victim(s) in order to reconcile the pupils.
2. An appropriate consequences will also be put into place
to sanction the behaviour and to educate the bully
regarding the appropriate behaviour.
3. After the incident/s have been investigated, each case
will be monitored to ensure repeated bullying does not
taken in place.
B.2. Sign and Symptoms
A child may indicate by sign and behaviour that he/she is a victim of bullying. Adults should be aware of these possible signs and symptoms that they should investigate if a child:
1. is frightened of walking to or from school
2. is unwilling to go school
3. become anxious, or lucking of confidence
4. cries themselves to sleep at night or has nightmares
5. feels ill in the morning
6. begins to do poorly in the school work
7. comes home with torn clothes or things damaged
8. has unexplained cuts or bruises
9. starts stealing money
10. becomes aggressive, disruptive or unreasonable
11. is frightened to say what’s wrong
12. developing sleep problem
B. 3. Roles and Responsibilities
1. The role of School Child Protection Committee
- To support the school head in all attempts to eliminate bullying from our school. The committee will not tolerate any bullying act in our school. And any incident/s of bullying that do occur will be taken seriously.
2. The role of all staff
- Teachers are responsible for reporting any incidents of concern.
- The members of staff must report the incident to the School Child Protection Committee as soon as possible.
3. The role of the pupils
- Tell yourself that you do not deserve to be bullied and that bullying is wrong.
- Be proud who you are.
C. MECHANISM AND PROCEDURES
1. Adopt and implement this child protection and anti-
bullying policy in accordance with IRR of RA 10627;
2. Provide pupils and their parents/guardians a copy of this
child protection and anti-bullying policy;
3. Educate the pupils, parents/guardians on the dynamics of
bullying, the anti-bullying policies of the school as well as
mechanism for the anonymous reporting of acts of
bullying and retaliation;
4. Formulate prevention, intervention, protective and
remedial measures to address bullying;
5. Ensure that the rights of the victim, the bully, and the
bystander are protected and upheld during the conduct of the
investigation; and determine the students’ need for protection
6. Ensure the effective implementation of the atni-bullying
policy and monitor compliance therewith.
