Job Summary (Essential Functions)

The BHCC Fitness Professionalis responsible for providing private personal training to BHCC members and guests, leading group exercise classes, and assisting in department projects, programs, and events. He/she must represent the club with PRIDE (Personal Accountability, Respect, Inter-Department Cooperation, Daily Development, and Effective Efficiency)

The BHCC Fitness Professional is a driven individual, looking to enhance their career in the health, and fitness industry. They understand the club environment, and are dedicated to delivering a premier hospitality experience to the Belle Haven members.

Job Tasks/Duties

  • Understands and complies with the BHCC policies and procedures as established in the BHCC Employee Handbook.
  • Provides personal training, teen certification training, and/or group exercise instruction, based on the needs of the members and guests.
  • Schedules, and provides private personal training sessions.
  • Keeps each aspect of the fitness center organized to BHCC standards.
  • Supervises fitness center floor in between clients, and assists members in any fitness related questions.
  • Ensures proper, and safe fitness conduct of members in the fitness center.
  • Completes own personal training sales on JONAS.
  • Attends weekly team meeting.
  • Informs members of current, and upcoming fitness programs, and events.
  • Completes projects as assigned by fitness director: Monthly meals, monthly workout challenge, monthly inventory, monthly equipment checkup checklist, weekly machine tune up, youth programs, elderly programs, monthly trainer articles, enhancing the front desk appearance, etc.
  • Keeps continuing education credits up to date, and turns in documents annually.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
  • Push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Continuous repetitive motions.
  • Must be able to run and/or jog a mile under 10 minutes

Fitness Professional Compensation

The Fitness Professional is a commission only Employee Position. Commission will be earned on a percentage scale of the service(s) provided. The percentage of commission earned is based on years of service to Belle Haven Country Club.

0-3 years at BHCC: 50% of services provided

3-7 years at BHCC: 55% of services provided

7+ years at BHCC: 60% of services provided

Additional notes regarding the Fitness Professional position, and the Fitness Attendant position:

You can have both positions simultaneously, but you cannot work both positions at the same time. For example: You cannot be clocked in as a Fitness Attendant to provide oversight of the fitness department, and clock in as a Fitness Professional to teach a group exercise class at the same time.

These are separate positions with separate responsibilities in the same department. They are meant to complement each other, and support the department as a whole.
