Modern Dilemmas

Extra Credit for Censorship Unit
Extra credit is offered every term. All extra credit requests must be discussed with me by the mid point of the term (warning time). Students who wish to complete extra credit may choose a film from a list I have found for this course, or they may choose a movie that I had wanted to show the class but did not have the time. A student wishing to pursue extra credit would be required to view the film, prepare a one-twopage report on the dilemma the film depicts and the resolutions it proposes, and he/she will share his/her thoughts with the class along with several clips from the movie.
In your written report, you should address the questions below:
- Why did people find this film objectionable?
- Which people or group(s) of people found the film objectionable?
- Were there different types of responses to the film?
- What form did the responses take? (boycott, protest, riots, etc…)
- How effective was the response in creating an effect (positive or negative)?
- What were/are the prominent social concerns of the day which may have caused controversy?
The presentation should take at least ten minutes
