Silver End Tigers 0 v 5 Great Notley Eagles

The Tigers played against a very well organised Great Notley side today and found themselves on the end of a 5-0 defeat.

The game started with Notley on the front foot and dominant through the midfield, they were allowed to turn and run at the Tigers defence without obstruction, the Tigers were forced to play as a counter attacking side and were unlucky not to actually get their noses in front when Jake squeezed through a ball to Ryan who just beat the Notley keeper to the ball, the keeper collided with Ryan but no foul was given. The constant barrage from Notley finally paid off for them, the ball was crossed in via their left-hand side, and the Tigers defence could not clear the ball leaving the Notley striker the opportunity to fire his side ahead. The pressure was maintained by Notley, Luke did a fine sliding block, Max produced a fantastic save when faced with a one-on-one on the angle, in-fact the Tigers defence were trying to cope with the never-ending barrage shot after shot. The second goal for Notley came via a corner, although the initial corner was cleared away the only player to respond was in a white Notley shirt and he was able to score leaving Max no chance. The ball certainly wasn’t running the Tigers way, Jake hit a post and fired wide from another opportunity the Tigers did seem to have more of the ball now but the threat from Notley was always there Jason and Joe did well in blocking Notleys advances, Max who was aware throughout the game did well when he intercepted a dangerous cross. At the end of the 1sthalf Jake had a good run on the left hand side and Braden was unlucky not to get a true connection and fired wide.

Half time 0-2

The direction of the game didn’t change after the break Notley hit the post from a long range shot, again the game was being played in the Tigers half. Hammer, Todd, Braden and Ribbs trying their best in midfield. Harry and Jake were outnumbered when trying to put pressure on the Notley defence. Notley scored their third when after a couple of tackles the ball still ran in favour of the Notley midfielder and he was able to score leaving Max again without any chance. The fourth followed soon after Max’s goal-kick was headed straight back into the path of the Notley striker who was able to race clear and leave Max stranded. Callum had a shot saved, Braden had a good effort with his left foot saved too but it wasn’t to be for the Tigers today, Notley scored their 5thfollowing a good break-away and their striker finished well high into the net.

Full time 0-5

Today the Tigers were beaten by the stronger team, they found themselves two-nil down before they raised their intensity to match their opponents. Everybody tried hard but at times were chasing shadows, Max did very well in goal and deserved his Man-of-the match award.

A good attendance for the Tigers today thank you for your support.
