Description
This course is designed to introduce the Graphics Communications student to the workplace through tours, live projects, and special topics. The students will tour various local graphics industries that offer different methods of graphic communications (i.e: stencil printing, web page building, pad printing, offset lithography, newspapers, television production, etc.). The students will outline and write a report on each tour they participate in. The students will also work on live projects for customers within the college and for other non-profit entities within the community. Students will research special topics occuring in the industry such as Flash animation vs. JAVA programming or wide format printing. Research will include class discussion and visiting with people or businesses that are working in these areas. Students will research/study costs associated with the Graphics Communications Industry and prepare quotes and estimates for various projects related to the industry.
