CLASS TITLE:PARK PROGRAMS DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST

This is professional work identifying and developing private and governmental manpower and financial support for Florida state parks.

  • Designs and recommends new programs for the recruitment and use of volunteers for a Florida Park Service district.
  • Assists park managers in assessing the need for and developing plans to establish a citizen support organization for a park.
  • Monitors, evaluates, and provides program analyses to a district manager on the operations of citizen support organizations.
  • Writes and assembles grant applications and proposals to be submitted to public and private granting agencies.
  • Monitors and assists in coordinating grant project activities.
  • Serves as a liaison with grant sources.
  • Identifies suitable work projects for volunteer groups wishing to conduct projects in state parks.
  • Serves as a liaison with the Department of Corrections' Inmate Labor Program.
  • Evaluates the interagency use of Department of Corrections' inmates in a Florida Park Service district and recommends actions to expand and improve the program.
  • Coordinates the assignment of inmate labor in the park service.
  • Develops a public relations program to inform the public of the need for private support for Florida state parks.
  • Identifies and keeps abreast of available public and private programs useful for the operation of Florida state parks.
  • Designs and develops a public relations program to encourage corporate and/or foundation support of Florida state parks.
  • Serves as a Park Service district information resource contact for other Florida Park Service districts on volunteer service matters.
  • Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of professional experience in corporate and/or foundation solicitation, grants writing, marketing, public relations, business or industry development, or volunteer management.
  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for the required experience.
  • Professional or nonprofessional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
