Course Description-
Students will develop and emphasize on physical fitness skills including; agility, coordination, reaction time, speed, power, rules, strategies, team sports, individual sports and other activities. These physical education courses give students the opportunity to measure and develop to his/her fullest potential and abilities in physical growth, neuromuscular development, emotional control, and social awareness.

Oregon Standards
Expressive and Efficient Moving-

1.  Demonstrate knowledge of a variety of motor skills.
PE.HS.EE.01- Demonstrate competency (basic skills) in complex versions of three or more of the following categories of movement forms and more advanced skills in one or more movement forms.
Individual activities Dual Activities Aerobic/cardio-respiratory lifetime
Outdoor pursuits Team Sports Strength Training and Conditioning
Aquatics

2.  Understand and apply movement concepts.
PE.HS.EE.02- Utilize the following components to critique an activity: skills and strategies, use of feedback, positive and negative aspects of personal performance, appropriate practice and conditioning procedures.

3.  Understand rules and strategies for a variety of physical activities.
PE.HS.EE.03 Communicate to others basic strategies specific to one team activity and one dual or individual activity.
PE.HS.EE.04 Demonstrate rules and strategies in complex versions of at least two different categories of the following movement forms:

MISS LITTLE’S PE GRADING POLICY

1. STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE 4 POINTS FOR MEETING THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE DAY AND 8 POINTS ON BLOCKED DAYS (Wed/Thurs). THEY WILL BE EVALUATED FOR EACH COMPONENT OF THE CLASS. STUDENTS WILL LOSE POINTS IF THEY DISPLAY A POOR ATTITUDE AND OR EFFORT IN THE AREAS BELOW.

A. Dynamic Warm-Ups / Cool down Stretching
B. Weight Room
C. Testing
D. Activity of the day.

2. MISSED ACTIVITY DAYS-UNRELATED TO SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

A.  If you miss a class period for any reason that is not school related you will need to get the absence excused and make up the class to receive your points for the missed day.

B.  School related absences examples -Field Trip, Concert, Student Council Meeting, and School Related Sporting Events.

C.  You can only make up EXCUSED absences!!!

3. A STUDENT HAS 3 DAYS AFTER AN ABSENCE TO GET THE ABSENCE EXCUSED IN THE ATTENDANCE OFFICE. IF IT IS EXCUSED THEY MAY MAKE UP ABSENCES IN THE FOLLOWING MANNER:

A.  4 Laps (1-Mile) around the track or an equal distance in the gym if poor weather is a factor will equal 4 points.

B.  Laps may be ran, jogged, walked or any combination that a student is comfortable with.

C.  Laps do not all have to be made up in one day but must be made up at school.

D.  Laps have to be made up within 10 days of return to class.

E.  This time line may be extended upon a students’ return to class due to physical limitations.

F.  It is the student’s responsibility to SCHEDULE MAKE UP SESSION WITH THE TEACHER.

G.  A written Project will be provided for students with extended medical absences/conditions that will not allow any physical activity.

4. UNEXCUSED TARDIES
A. Will be an automatic 2-point loss.
B. Cannot be made up.

5. UNEXCUSED NON SUITS –*example*- You show up to class and refuse to dress down or participate.

A. 1=C 2=F FOR THE 9 WEEK GRADING PERIOD
B. CANNOT BE MADE UP!!!!
C. WE HAVE CLEAN CLOTHING TO LOAN!!!!

6. LEAVING CLASS EARLY WILL RESULT IN THE STUDENT LOSING ALL POSSIBLE POINTS FOR THAT DAY.

7. EACH GRADING PERIOD WILL BE A CULMINATION OF ALL POINTS EARNED UP TO THAT TIME IN THE CLASS.

8. GRADES WILL BE UPDATED AND POSTED TO PARENT ASSIST ABOUT EVERY 2 WEEKS.

1. BE ON TIME

A. IN THE LOCKER ROOM BEFORE THE TARDY BELL

B. IN THE WORK AREA-NO LATER THAN 5 MINUTES AFTER THE

TARDY BELL. BE READY TO WORK!!

2. DRESS DOWN FOR CLASS EVERY DAY

A. NO STREET CLOTHES

B. PROPER CLOTHING (Failure to have proper clothing will result in a 0 for the day.)

1. LOOSE FITTING/STRETCHY MATERIAL

2. SHIRTS REQUIRED OF ALL STUDENTS

3. GYM TYPE SHOES PROPERLY LACED (No Furry boots/ Crocks/ Slippers/ Romeos/ Flip Flops)

4. NO QUESTIONABLE WORDING OR PICTURES

5. ABSOLUTELY NO SAGGING!!

3. MEET THE CLASS REQUIREMENTS EACH DAY

A. WARM UP/FITNESS

C. ACTIVITY OF THE DAY

D.  YOU ARE EXPECTED TO PARTICIPATE TO THE BEST OF YOUR ABILITIES IN ALL AREAS (POSITIVE ATTITUDE, EFFORT)

E. NO FOOD, DRINK OR GUM IS TO BE IN THE WORK AREAS.

4. A DAILY SHOWER IS RECOMMENDED

5. STAY IN YOUR WORK AREA AND DO NOT LEAVE CLASS EARLY

A.  STAY IN WORK AREA UNTIL YOUR TEACHER DISMISSES CLASS TO LOCKER ROOMS.

(USE LOCKER ASSIGNED TO YOU! DO NOT SHARE!)

B.  WAIT IN THE GYM UNTIL THE BELL RINGS.

C.  LEAVING EARLY, WITHOUT PERMISSION WILL RESULT IN LOSS OF ALL DAILY POINTS!!! NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU WORKED.

6.  YOU ARE EXPECTED TO ACT IN A PROPER AND RESPONSIBLE

MANNER AT ALL TIMES

A.  Golden Rule: Treat others as you would want to be treated.

B.  ANY VIOLATION OF THE P.E. DEPARTMENT RULES/PROCEDURES THAT IS COVERED IN THE STUDENT HANDBOOK DISCIPLINE POLICY WILL BE ENFORCED AS DESCRIBED.

1.  EXAMPLES WOULD BE SKIPPING, BEING TARDY, FIGHTING, HARASSMENT.

C.  OTHER VIOLATIONS WILL BE DEALT WITH IN THE FOLLOWING MANNER:

1.  VERBAL WARNING

D.  IF THE PROBLEM PERSISTS AND THE STUDENT IS NOT MAKING AN EFFORT TO FOLLOW THE DEPARTMENT RULES/PROCEDURES, THE REFERRAL PROCEDURE WILL BE FOLLOWED.
