Treasurer’s Report
- Mary Rhodes presented the Treasurer’s Report as of September 30, 2012:
- Savings Account balance $294.25
- Checking Account balance $272.69
- A letter will be going out to all professional employees regarding membership dues. An annual donation of $5.00 is suggested. The funds will be used to assist students, and employees. Any use of these funds will be voted on by the Professional Council. Mary will contact the Payroll department about payroll deduction options for the professional employees.
Presidential Updates
- President Eaton is now a board member for HERDI, Higher Education Research and Development Institute. This group looks at new technology and helps institutions determine ways the new technology canbe used to enhance education.
- Health Care Plan cost increase
The following medical premium changes for our 2013 Plan year begins January 1st:
Employee medical premium increases are as follows:
Employee / $5/per pay periodEmployee + Spouse / $21/per pay period
Employee + Child(ren) / $16.25/ per pay period
Employee + Family / $34/ per pay period
The College will increase its contribution by $84 per month for each employee. Currently, the College contributes $6.7 million towards the employee medical health care plan. With this recent increase, the College will increase its contribution by $1,076,000. The College funds 76% of the cost of employee premiums.

- “Feed the Need” Community based food bank
- Hector will send out information and asked all of us for our support
- Hector and Michi are working on a page dedicated to Professional Employeeswho are highlighted during each month, at the Board Meetings. A committee will meet and select a professional council member for the quarter, from that list based on certain criteria. The prize may be a day off or cash. They also have a plan to survey Professional employees directly and ask them a set of questions, instead of using a survey.

- Regional Campus Updates
- Great American Smoke Out, on most campuses, information will be sent out.
- Advising Week is October 29th through November 3rd
- Daytona State Leo Omega Club has won an international award for excellence in community service and youth leadership from Lions Clubs International. The Deland Campus based program competed with more than 16,000 Leo Clubs in 85 countries. This is the first time a group from Florida has won.
