Subject: Report for February 2017
Dear Friends and Brethren of the Granbury Church of Christ,
In this beautiful day, I give thanks to God for life and health. I will begin my report with the words of the Psalmist. "Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations" Psalms 90: 1. (KJV)
PREPARATION OF LEADERS IN THE JARDINES DE LA MANCHA CONGREGATION
From the beginning of the Glenn Owen Seminar in Chihuahua in January 2017, it occurred to me that I must prepare the men of the congregation to be true leaders. To accomplish this, we are using the leadership material that Chris Frizzell taught and left with us, consisting of 13 lessons. We are going to study one lesson each month on Sunday afternoon. We have copied the lesson material and given a copy to each Brother and have assigned to a different home to study and meditate on the material. On Sunday 2/19, we met for the first time in the home of Javier and Anita, a Christian Sister who have been attending services for one year. Javier is still receiving instruction and is very interested in learning God's will. The first lesson was entitled The Humility of Christ. After the lesson there were questions from the Brethren concerning humility and how to be like Jesus. This first class was very motivating and informative for the Brethren. We assigned the next lesson entitled Shepherds of the Old Testament and the class will meet again on March 19 in the home of the Adames. Please pray for us that together, we will grow to maturity and in the fullness of Christ.
FELLOWSHIP MEETING IN CHIHUAHUA
On February 25 and 26, the monthly fellowship meeting of the Churches in Chihuahua was held at the Guereca congregation. The brethren at Guereca asked me to speak at the meeting on both days which I did with much pleasure and preparation. One lesson was entitled Love Each Other, taken from the letters of John in which we projected the Bible texts, demonstrating the love of God as well as our love for each other. Brethren from the following congregations attending this meeting were from 80th St., Sor Juana, Aeropuerto, Jardines de la Mancha, Guereca and Rancheria as well as other visitors. It was a great time of rejoicing and the lesson was well received.
The second lesson was taken from the Psalms entitled Why Do You Come to Worship? It was intended to encourage us to come into God's presence for whatever the need might be, whether worship, pardon, anger, loneliness, friends or joy. The important point is to find and opportunity for help near to God's throne. In every way, the two days were a spiritual fiesta in that we had the opportunity to greet and hug our brethren. May the future fellowship meetings be the same.
In Him,
Javier Adame
