2 Definition
Client refers to people receiving a career related service who may be individuals or groups associated with employment, education, or training, or in some cases may be an organisation.
Elements and performance criteria
Element 1
Demonstrate knowledge of job seeking strategies.
Performance criteria
1.1 Job seeking strategies are identified and described in accordance with the context and the needs of the client.
Range strategies may include but are not limited to – assessing financial limitations, formatting CV to specific job applications, using recruitment agencies, targeting specific job market potentials, using network dynamics, informal job network, cold-calling, prior introductory calling, using informal introductions, developing action plans, job search follow-up activity (letters of thanks, post-interview feedback);
evidence is required for two contexts and five job search strategies.
1.2 Sources of information on potential employment opportunities identified meet the needs of the client.
Range evidence is required for three sources.
Element 2
Assist clients to prepare for work or education applications.
Performance criteria
2.1 Clients are assisted to access information on prospective employers in accordance with identified needs or interests.
2.2 Clients are assisted to develop interview skills in terms of the context and their needs.
2.3 Clients are assisted to compile information for job applications in accordance with application requirements.
2.4 Clients are assisted to develop strategies for seeking work in accordance with identified needs.
Range evidence is required for three strategies.
Please note
Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
